Aircraft Noise Modelling: Best Practices
Your Goal
Acquire advanced techniques of aircraft noise modelling and more specifically of noise mapping around airports. This course will introduce students to the best practices of model’s data pre- and post-processing, including how to make use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to perform population counts inside noise contours and to create maps.
You Are
In charge of noise impact assessments for a CAA, ANSP or an airport. You are familiar with flight operations and with MS Excel / Access (or equivalent).
Your Instructor
Ivan de Lépinay
Ivan has over nine years of experience in environmental noise management. He was in charge of accessing environmental trade-offs of Continuous Descent Approaches (CDA) at three European airports and takes part in global aviation noise assessments in support to the ICAO/CAEP MODTF activities. More recently, Ivan was responsible for the airport data collection process for the new European multi-airport noise model STAPES.
